kinder MODERN is thrilled to announce our curated exhibition of twentieth century design and the newest in contemporary design for children at Collective Design fair, May 13-17, 2015 at Skylight Clarkson Sq in New York City.
This dynamic show will feature exclusive designer collaborations and limited edition works by: MATERIAL LUST + LUCAS MAASSEN + MATTHEW SULLIVAN + CLEMENS TISSI + GUILLAUMIT + ERIK NYSTRÖM + VISSER / MEIJWAARD + KINDER GROUND
A sneak peak:
Material Lust: With an influence rooted in the surreal, a monochromatic palette, and designs that reference hieroglyphics and ancient languages, each piece of Material Lust’s (Lauren Larsen and Christian Swafford) debut child collection, Fictional Furniture, makes a bold statement about the sweet fierceness of childhood.
Clemens Tissi: TISCH STUHL HAUS KREIDE (TABLE CHAIR HOUSE CHALK) is a collaboration with the Berlin gallery Jochum Rodgers. In this limited edition production, Swiss designer/architect Clemens Tissi created a multi-angled, perfectly balanced architectural chair/desk and covered it in chalkboard paint to encourage the child to creatively imagine their desk their way.
Lucas Maassen & Sons: Dutch designer Lucas Maassen has employed his three sons, Thijme, Julian, and Maris to work for him in their own family “furniture factory,” in which Maassen designs and produces the furniture the children then finish. As a response to their first kM collection, the Maassen boys are exploring the timeless questions that arise as one develops as a designer or artist: “Am I the designer? Or is my father?" and examines these questions through careful deconstruction of iconic design masters' work.
