Big news from kinder MODERN! We'll be presenting our first ever art installation next month at PULSE New York. Featuring kM favorite Lucas Maassen, this time with his partner Margriet Craens, The Chair Affair explores the dynamic intersections between family, relationships, and design. Maassen has previously brought chairs to life, in Yoga Chairs (2008), The Singing Chair (2010), and The Sitcom (2014). Craens aims to meld the tragic and the comic in her installation and video artwork. The Chair Affair became a natural extension of both their work, and together Craens and Maassen developed a deeply personal photo series. They have described their project as sketch-driven and autobiographical; the result of a confrontation between their two very different disciplines. kinder MODERN is honored to present this provocative art and design project, as part of the gallery’s dedication to the complex visual and functional narrative of the family home.
PULSE New York will take place March 3-6, 2016 at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 19th St). Visit their website to learn more about purchase tickets.
