Daniel Michalik is the founder of DMFD, a design studio creating furniture and objects from underutilized, environmentally responsible materials and manufacturing methods. Recent explorations have included cork from sustainably managed forests and lumber from structures around New York City.
Daniel has exhibited internationally, including at the Milan Furniture Fair, The Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery of American Craft, and the VIA in Paris. His work has appeared in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Dwell, Taschen Books, I.D., Wallpaper*, Interior Design, and American Craft, as well as on the Sundance Channel and HGTV. Daniel is Director of Product Design At Parsons School of Design in New York City and received his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in the Department of Furniture Design.
